I was so taken by these trees, Scots Pine trees in Como park. The way the snow contrasted with the orange/yellow bark, and the snow had frosted the needle tips.
It was super windy that day. To get these shots in focus, I had to lay down in the snow and use my forehead as the tripod. I cranked up the shutter speed to 600fps, raised the ISO to 550, and used a wide-open aperture – a setting I would normally never use for photographing landscapes or plants. But even with a flood of light, the wind whipping the branches about made for extra difficult conditions.
There were people there, watching me in the snow, covering the lens with my mittens (to protect it from falling snow from the branches) and waiting for a break in the wind to get a couple shots.
