I’ve been following Erik’s work for a while. His reputation and craftsmanship in Peacock Groove precede him. I was thrilled to discover, along my commute to work from Minneapolis to Saint Paul, I passed by Erik’s doorstep daily.
I was even more excited that, before he left this fabulous shop, he painted my beloved bicycle, Greg. I settled on a soft pink, with gold sparkles. And it’s pretty much the best thing evah.
Erik is no longer at this marvelous shop of his. I haven’t commuted through that area for years now anyway. I’ve been meaning to sit down with him, to pick his brain about his work and the industry. We’ve traded numbers off and on, here and there. But never hammered out a time to get together.
That’s the thing with Erik, there’s no small conversation. If it’s a conversation, it’s going to take time enough. So, maybe someday I’ll get in touch with him again and see what’s up.
